FAQ

Can I have multiple Pop-ups on the same page?

Pro

You can, but only the first one that appears according to the campaign rules will be shown, to avoid confusion.

How does “Display on subpages” work?

Pro

Lite

When a campaign is set to display on subpages, it will propagate to all lower pages on the sitemap until another active campaign is found, then the propagation will stop. Think of each campaign as a dam which stops the flow of water from upstream campaigns.

Can I create my own design templates?

Pro

Lite

Free

With Opt-In Pro you can easily display your own stacks and html in a campaign as described at the end of this guide. If you want to create design templates that can be selected in the campaign dialog, please contact us for instructions.

How is the interval for “When the user visits the page for the n:th time” specified?

Pro

Lite

Free

The interval is inclusive for Display and exclusive for Hide.

Example: If Display is set to “second” and Hide to “fourth” it means that the campaign will be displayed the second and third time the same user visits a page, but not the fourth time and thereafter, like this:

Page visit

Display

1

No

2

Yes

3

Yes

4

No

5

No

If Display is set but not Hide there won’t be any upper display limit, and vice versa if Hide is set but not Display.

Also note that if subpages is set, those pages will also count as a page visit for the campaign.

How do I upgrade to Opt-In Lite or Pro?

Lite

Free

When you have purchased Lite or Pro, install it as any other add-on but don't uninstall the old version! It will automatically be uninstalled, and your campaigns and subscribers will be kept. If you want to start from scratch however, deleting all data, you can uninstall the old version first.

Can I downgrade to Lite or Free?

Pro

Lite

No, once you have upgraded version it is not recommended that you downgrade. If you have used some Pro features for example and then downgrade, Opt-In will most likely stop working.

When do I need to use the “Reset campaign cookie” button?

Pro

Lite

Free

A common usage in Opt-In Free and Lite is when you’re changing the content of a campaign completely. Then you’d like the subscribers to see the new content, even though they have already subscribed. Clicking the “Reset campaign cookie” button will enable the campaign again for the subscribers, and reset the visit count for all visitors.

Note that they cannot subscribe again with the same address though, to allow that you must remove all subscribers in the subscribers dashboard page. This is not needed when using Opt-In Pro however, then you can create a new or duplicate an existing campaign instead, since the subscribers are treated separately for each campaign.

Can I enter html into the content dialog fields?

Pro

Lite

Free

Yes, you can enter any html into the fields of the content dialog, they will be outputted exactly as is when the campaign is displayed. Be careful...!

Can I control who can edit Campaigns in the dashboard?

Pro

Lite

Free

In the Free and Lite version, groups with edit access for the site can read and write campaigns and subscribers. You can see and change that from Dashboard > System & Settings > Site Access.

For Opt-In Pro, you have more options. In Dashboard > System & Settings > Task Permissions there are two permissions added for Opt-In, read and write access. Click on one of those to add any user or group to the access you like. The default setting is that only Administrators can read and write campaigns and subscribers.

What happens when I combine Rules for a campaign?

Pro

Lite

When you select multiple rules for a campaign, they must all be fulfilled for the campaign to be displayed. So if you have the following rules enabled:

“When the user visits the page for the second time”

“When the user wants to leave the page (exit intention)”

“After 3 seconds”

It means that the campaign will only be displayed to users who visits the page on the second time or more when they try to leave the page, and there will be a 3 second delay before the campaign is displayed.

Hopefully the existing rules are useful for most cases, but let us know if you have an idea for more!
